Journeys, CRED & your Captain
You hold a gecko. Read this before you lock one, not after.
What you will get out of this
- What a journey is and how long each one locks a gecko
- What each journey pays, and how the rate is set
- What a Captain is and what it changes
- What CRED is redeemable for today
- What happens to a staked gecko if you want to sell
A journey is staking, under the name this project uses for it. You commit a gecko for a fixed length of time, and it earns CRED for every day it is out there.
The lock is real. While a journey runs, the gecko cannot be sold, transferred or unstaked early: the staking program rejects it outright.
Rates#
- Interstellar Journey (3 months)
- Locked for90 daysEarns200 CRED per day
- Hero's Journey (1 year)
- Locked for365 daysEarns300 CRED per day
- Immortal Journey (∞ years)
- Locked forforeverEarns500 CRED per day
⚠︎ The gecko becomes soul-bound and will no longer be transferrable
Read it as a trade: the longer the lock, the more each gecko earns per day.
Captain#
Bonus CRED is separate from the daily rate, and all of it lands on one gecko: your Captain.
The bonus is banded by how many geckos you have on journeys at once, plus more for each complete faction set. Your Captain must be on a journey, you can hand the role to another gecko from the star on its staking card, and it is the last one you can take back out.
Immortal#
The Immortal journey never ends, and it pays the most per day.
Rank is unaffected. The rank shown at galacticgeckos.app/gecko-rarity is the fixed mint-time rank and is canonical. Immortal-adjusted rank is an additional view, never a replacement.
What CRED is redeemable for#
Nothing, today. CRED is a loyalty score and a ranking number: nothing redeems it, nothing is bought with it, the Armory included. It is not a token and it does not trade. It is worth knowing before you lock a gecko for a year. The glossary carries the same definition.
If you want to sell#
A gecko cannot be listed or transferred while its journey runs, so selling means waiting for it to end and unstaking first. Sell, transfer, or step away covers the cost and what happens to the CRED.
