The price you pay is the seller's ask, plus that gecko's own creator royalty, plus the venue's take. Royalties are set per mint, so the all-in price of two geckos listed at the same ask can differ.
The baseline creator royalty is 7.5%, which is what most Galactic Geckos carry, as of 6 Aug 2026. Some are set higher. Because the rate is stored on each mint rather than collection-wide, the marketplace shows the enforced amount for the exact gecko you are buying on the listing screen.
So the number you confirm is always a little above the ask you clicked, and the exact number for the gecko in front of you is on its listing screen rather than in this sentence.
Step 1. Get a wallet#
A Solana wallet is the account that holds the gecko and signs for it. The one thing that matters during setup is what you do with the seed phrase it shows you: write it on paper, keep it off every screen, and know that nobody legitimate will ever ask you for it.
This site ships no wallet list of its own. It discovers whatever Solana wallet your browser has already registered, so any current one works. Solana's own wallet directory compares them by platform, custody and the features you might care about. Phantom and Solflare are the two this project's older guide sent people to. Treat that as widely used rather than certified by us.
Step 2. Get some SOL#
You need SOL, Solana's own token, sitting in that wallet before you can buy anything.
There are three usual routes, and which one is cheapest depends on where your money already is. If you already hold crypto on Solana, swap it for SOL on-chain. If you are starting from a bank account, buy SOL somewhere that allows withdrawal to a personal wallet, then withdraw it. If you would rather not leave the wallet at all, most Solana wallets have a buy button that takes a card directly, usually at a worse rate.
Solana's own getting-started guide is the place to pick between them. This guide names no venue on purpose: which ones you can use at all depends on where you live, their fees move, and a handful named here would read as a recommendation we are not in a position to make. Check the current fee on the venue's own page rather than trusting a figure here.
Step 3. Choose a gecko#
Faction first, if the lore or the background colour matters to you, because it is the one thing you cannot change later. Then the look, since you will be staring at it for a while. Then budget, honestly, before you open a listing. Rarity last, and only if it genuinely changes your mind: look up a rank with the rarity tool, and read traits, rarity and matched sets before paying a premium for one.
Step 4. Buy it#
To buy, Tensor carries the depth. To list or sell, use Orbis first, then Artifacte.
Open the collection on Tensor. Browsing needs no wallet; buying does. Connect, open the listing, approve the transaction in your wallet, and the gecko lands in the wallet you connected.
What each venue takes
AS OF- Tensor
- A 2% taker fee, paid by the buyer on top of the ask. Nothing is taken from the seller when a listing sells; a seller who accepts a bid instead has both the fee and the royalty deducted from the bid.
- Orbis
- Nothing of its own on a listing it mirrors from another venue - you pay that venue's 2% and Orbis adds no second cut. On a listing made on Orbis itself, Orbis takes 2% out of the seller's proceeds.
- Artifacte
- 2% of its own on a listing it mirrors from another venue, charged to the buyer on top of the 2% that venue already charges - two cuts on the same sale, where Orbis adds none. On a listing made on Artifacte itself, Artifacte takes 2% out of the seller's proceeds.
- Magic Eden
- A 2% taker fee, paid by the buyer on top of the ask.
No marketplace pays us to send you anywhere: we have no referral, affiliate or revenue-share arrangement with any of them. Every venue listed above enforces the creator royalty, and royalties are a large part of what funds the project, so a sale anywhere on this list pays for the building. We point sellers at Orbis and Artifacte first because they are collector-centric marketplaces, built to work with creators rather than to reward churn, and that is the side of the market a long-lived collection belongs on.
Step 5. The first thing to do#
You are a holder now, and three things are worth doing before you close the tab.
- Verify your holder role. It costs nothing, it never asks you to sign a transaction, and it is what switches the rest of this site on.
- Protect your gecko. Revoke the approvals you handed out while shopping, and decide once whether this is the wallet you keep things in.
